HOPE Christian Schools depend on support from friends to make up the difference between what the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program provides to educate a student and the actual cost for basic operating expenses - a gap of about $1,500 per student. Unrestricted gifts provide our schools with the greatest amount of flexibility to meet pressing needs.

About six weeks before school started, the Wisconsin State Legislature cut funding for MPCP schools by $165 per pupil for the 2009/2010 and 2010/2011 school years. The revenues for other publicly funded schools increased for the next two years through federal stimulus funds. We teach our students that for every challenge they face in life, there is a solution. We are working to make up this last-minute $230,000+ shortfall, and we hope you will partner with us so that we can continue to provide high-quality programming that enables our students to climb the mountain to college.

Teachers have long recognized that play is critical to children's healthy physical, social and cognitive development. Studies also suggest that play carries profound therapeutic benefits for children, especially those who have experienced poverty, trauma, and/or stress. HOPE's outdoor playgrounds will not only benefit our students, they will also create two places where neighborhood children and families can reap the benefits of a safe place to play in Harambee and Amani/Metcalfe Park. 		$70,000 2 $140,000

As word has spread about HOPE's high-intensity, solution-finding model of education, we are seeing an increase in applications from families who don't qualify for school vouchers - yet can't afford tuition. HOPE: Fortis Building Fund for HOPE: Fortis
HOPE is building a new home for our second K-8 school. HOPE: Fortis serves Milwaukee's Harambee neighborhood. We began holding classes in "Section One" this August. The capital campaign for "Section Two" is underway. Section Two will house the gym, library, cafeteria, additional classrooms and space for community partners who offer complementary services. 		$2.55 million
